See Hear Now Then

Open Studio Performance
Headlands Center for the Arts
2018

An open studio showing of my collaboration with the natural world, this is a live installation performed in the now gym, that was then a barracks, in the space in between then and now. The piece is an immersive aural and visual memoir/performance of my days in the “wilderness,” choreographing with trees and looking for artifacts referencing the 54th Colored Regiment who were stationed here in 1942.

The photographs in the installation are results of my collaboration with visual artist Laura Sanders, who shares my dis-easy relationship with the outside of doors. This is the third installation in an ongoing project, “Bodies, Dirt and Space.”
